Resources for Teens

  • Mud, Sweat & Tears

Known and admired by millions, Bear Grylls has always sought the ultimate in adventure and survived where few would dare to go.

Growing up he was taught by his father to sail and climb at an early age. As a teenager he found identity and purpose through mountaineering and martial arts, which led the young adventurer to the foothills of the mighty Himalaya and a grandmaster's karate training camp in Japan.

He embarked upon the notoriously gruelling selection course for the British Special Forces to join 21 SAS - a journey that was to push him to the very limits of physical and mental endurance.

Then, in a horrific free-fall parachuting accident, Bear broke his back in three places. Yet only 18 months later Bear became one of the youngest ever climbers to scale Everest, aged only 23.

  • Kisses from Katie

"I want to spend hours talking with my best friends about boys and fashion and school and life. I want to go to the gym; I want my hair to look nice. I want to be a normal girl living in America… But I want other things more. I want to be spiritually and emotionally filled every day. I want to make some kind of difference, and I want to follow the calling God has placed on my heart, and I want to serve Him with every breath."

Katie was a normal American teenager when she decided to do voluntary work Uganda for a year before college. However, she found returning to 'normal life' impossible; and decided to quit college, her designer clothes, her little yellow convertible and her boyfriend - and move to Uganda permanently.

By the age of 22 Katie had adopted 14 girls and founded Amizima Ministries - an organisation that cares for vulnerable children and families.

  • Soul Fuel Daily Devotional

“Faith doesn't mean you have to be especially ‘religious’. But, my faith tells me that I am known, that I am secure and that I am loved - regardless of the storms I may find myself in from time to time, regardless of how often I fall and fail.”

Bear Grylls passed the gruelling training to join the SAS. He’s survived a free-fall parachute accident that left him with a broken back, falling down a mountain in the Rockies, severing a finger in the Vietnam jungle, and a broken shoulder in Antarctica. But he says the hardest thing he has ever had to face is the death of his father when Bear was only 25. It was then, that he found faith.

In Soul Fuel, Bear reveals the inspiration that helps him to stand strong and find peace each day. These daily readings explore themes of friendships, failure, courage, risk; and show us all how to face each day with purpose and power.
